The Community Church
of Durham has long been a landmark in Durham.
Sitting upon a hill, it has served as a beacon of welcome and a symbol of hope
for nearly 300 years. During that time, each generation has built upon a solid foundation of faith in order to move
into the future with courage, imagination and love.
That rich tradition continues to express a vision connected to the
past and building
for the future. The Community Church of Durham is affiliated
with the United Church of Christ. To learn
more about the United Church of Christ, please go to:
March 9th is Consecration Sunday,
the culmination of ourStewardship-appeal
season. Our theme has been identifying the many
gifts we receive and give throughout our lives.
The stewards ask that you bring your completed
pledge card to our 10:00 am worship service
(additional cards will be available) so that your
pledge, together with the those of others, can be
consecrated before God. Immediately following
the service, please plan to stay for an informal
luncheon to celebrate the fun and surprising season
of stewardship. All are most welcome!
The purpose of the Community Church of Durham, according
to its Constitution, shall be: "to worship God, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to celebrate the Sacraments;
to realize Christian fellowship and unity within this Church and the Church Universal; to render loving service toward humankind;
and to strive for righteousness, justice and peace".
We welcome feedback about the website and hope that you will
be a frequent visitor.
